The third time Liverpool became the kings of Europe.

As is usually the case in these finals it was another close affair, this time up against the Spanish giants that were Real Madrid.

The game looked destined for extra time when Alan Kennedy broke through to smash one home in the 82nd minute.

Scenes followed as Kennedy famously ran towards the crowd to celebrate both fists clenched knowing he was the unlikely hero.

Bob Paisley had done it again. Liverpool the best on the continent, Champions d'Europe!
